one year in brazil =)

happy anniversary to me! happy anniversary to me! one year in brazil - happy anniversary to me! =)
this week, triinu and I celebrated one year in brazil...with some cocktails and tunes at a cool local bar on friday night and then some reflection (aided by wine and cheese) on saturday night. well our reflections concluded that it has been a challenging, difficult year but also rewarding one, filled with a lot of learning and personal growth like...the value of listening (as it was all i could try to do for the first few months!)...the need for more true dialogue....to be more patient and appreciative of myself....YAY i learnt portuguese!!!...i have depths of strength and survival to overcome tough challenges...the treasure of family and health...physical, emotional and spiritual...that i truly come alive when i am hosting and facilitating...connectivity...with people, ideas, body mind and spirit...yoga...the value of daily practice...the difference between hope and expectation....culture shock sucks!!!....i have hope for a fulfilling relationship...to forget what i do not want....and dedicate time to positively visualizing what i do want....i need to remind myself of my talents and passions and not let my work environment limit my contribution or potential...feedback is essential for growth...being treated with respect and dignity is a two-way process and i take the lead...i can be disciplined when it comes to exercise and get the buzz...i am more individualistic than collective....to not just work with the best people, but what is the best in each person...i miss nature...if you want brazilians to come to your party you cant just send an email invite, you have to talk to each one personally....and if they say they are going to come it doesnt necessarily mean they will...but it is nothing personal =)
and i am very excited about the possibilities of the upcoming year that is rising....

Hello Zoe,
It's weird to read your post, as I recently completed 1 year in Australia and feel the same about many things, especially the spirituality and deep self awareness parts - and definitely not the party invitation one ;o)
Keep enjoying the Latin spirit, the music, the fruits, the people! I shall see you in some months, as I'm going back in November!
Gabi.
