truly a nomad
It is a pretty long, complicated and boring story, but main point is that I couldn't get the work permit that UBS expected (mainly because authorities didn't understand my university's term for "deferring studies") and so that would mean that my internship would be "counted" in a different way internally if I was able to get a different type of work permit. So yep...no diversity traineeship for me at UBS :-(
It is disappointing to me that government and corporate bureaucracies prevent people and organisations exploring their potential, especially when we are talking about diversity, but I am not in a position to change these things right now, so I am looking to the future....trying to find the new door that is opening...somewhere....
One chance will be to work with Sanna from Finland in Sarajevo with the NGO called Education for Peace...such an inspiring organisation...but still waiting for the job description and selection process.
So in one week I will leave on a one-way ticket to Europe - go to London and Dublin to catch up with friends - and then have Christmas (and now New Years too!! :-) in Portugal and then....? A truly nomadic life awaits me!
We just had a wonderful "early Christmas" here with my family as I won't be in Australia on the 25th...and in some ways it made it harder to leave into this uncertainty...but in other ways it boosted my courage as I feel that with a family that loves me and whom I love so dearly, I can handle anything that comes my way!
Ho ho ho

Zoe, there will be another traineeship/job for you! I am sure!
Maybe destiny is telling you that was not DA traineeship for you... who knows, you might end up yellow-red brainwashed! ;)
Chau chau Zoe.
(Cheer up, you do not want those expressions lines to get on your face at an early stage of your life, do you!?)

Hey huns,
Sorry to hear about traineeship, and regarding the new door, think opportunities await us everywhere. Guess its a matter of identifying whether its the right door that you want. :) And its true with the family's love, you can do anything, think there is actually a study on that. Love ya! Hugs!!!

Hello lovie,
sorry to hear about the UBS biz.....I also admire your optimism and wish you all the best. That concept of windows and doors opening is slightly fluffy but it has been known to be very true in lots of instances too....have a blast in Europe and carry ALL your warm wardrobe....missing you much(cada vez que te ...)...and sending you lots of hugs and best wishes...UR SOOOOO GOING TO MAKE IT!

thanks for thinking of me!!!

ah...7 years in AIESEC didn't teach you anything? Shit does happens eg. conference OC screw ups, getting lost for crucial appointments, email server down, wrong TN matched to the wrong SN, missed connection flights, mistaken for being a communists on the street (opps that's mine), 30 000 members globally confused about identity and etc...
Once a fren said,"things will turn out well, if not then you are not there yet..."
be brave, and sometimes after AI you tend to be timid for a little while but it will be gone soon! we are around.....your blog!

Godspeed Zoe.

I really feel for you Zoe, just remember that just because you can't see the master plan doesn't mean that there isn't one. Things happen for a reason so keep your chin up; bigger and better things are meant for you.
